Collaborative connections between the healthcare and settlement sectors improves health outcomes for immigrants and refugees who rely on settlement agencies for healthcare navigation.

However, sometimes the pathway from settlement agency to healthcare provider can be confusing, time consuming, and even non-existent. In Victoria, the Inter-Cultural Association of Great Victoria (ICA) has long been connected with the Downtown Victoria Urgent and Primary Care Centre (DVUPCC). Thanks to years of collaboration, the DVUPCC has grown into the region’s only refugee clinic, working with hundreds of people in the region.

VCST’s Interconnectedness Initiative welcomes Haley Smith of ICA and Sein Youn of DVUPCC to share their insights and experience cultivating this connection to make healthcare more accessible to immigrants and refugees.
